Lodestar Partners with Heatherized to Improve Your Analytical Skills

Lodestar Solutions, a premier IBM reseller and educator of analytics, has formed a strategic partnership with www.Heatherized.com.  Heatherized is a brand new site (for analytically minded professionals) which is the fusion between business, technology and personal development.   Heatherized is the personal project of Heather Cole, an expert in Business Analytics, and it shares Heather’s insight from approximately 30 years of working in technology in addition to her passion for psychology.  Heatherized has informative videos designed to educate and inspire you to be influential within your organization and to help improve analytical skills. It is a software agnostic site for educational purposes.  One recent video shared insights on sounding good in web meetings: Ditch The Headset and Get a Quality Microphone. It goes into detail on various mics to consider.  http://youtu.be/q7TW9erRKFU

Lodestar Solutions is officially an authorized distributor of Heatherized workshops, events and coaching programs.  This partnership fits directly in Lodestar Solutions’ mission to be leading educators and mentors in Business Analytics.  If you would like to be added to the Heatherized site and receive video updates, you can do so on www.heatherized.com.  Note that the Heatherized list is different from than of the Lodestar community, which you can register for at www.lodestarsolutions.com.

Side note:  Why is it called Heatherized?  A branding expert advised Heather to get HeatherCole.com but the site was taken.  She could have purchased the site, but after googling her own name,  Heather realized there was another Heather Cole living in Tampa, FL.  The other Heather was married to Bubba the Love Sponge Radio personality and had a well-publicized affair with Hulk Hogan that included videos.  Thank goodness the other Heather is brunette. The branding expert agreed with Heather that she would not win SEO.   It was time to find a new name. For years, Heather’s friends joked about being inspired by Heather as being “Heatherized”.  “It’s time to get Heatherized” was born.

What are the Skills for Successful Business Analytics Implementation?

I believe most organizations aren’t even tapping 30% of the potential benefits they could realize from their Business Analytics/Intelligence Solutions.  Do you feel you are struggling to get momentum behind your Analytics project?  Maybe you don’t feel you have the executive support you need. Well, you are not alone!  I'm often asked what are the skills for successful business analytics implementation?

I have worked with many clients who have faced these challenges.

In order to show clients how to conquer the challenges, I had to call upon my years of studying psychology, leadership, and human behavior.   The trick to creating momentum and buy-in requires you to first understand what influences your audience.  The biggest mistake people make in implementing or getting support for a BI/BA project is that they lack the skills to do proper requirements gathering.  Requirements gathering is not just about the business needs; it needs to include the people’s needs.   To uncover the needs of the people, you need social skills to build rapport and connection.

Let’s be candid! IT and analytically-minded professionals aren’t exactly known for their social skills.  Do you want to know the most important social skill you need develop to succeed and become an influential and admired leader?

It’s Storytelling.

Storytelling helps you to successfully establish rapport, champion a solution, evangelize a vision, set expectations, build teams, attract talent, and resolve conflict. So, how well do you tell stories?
